The Update

I know, I know, it's been ages since we posted anything about what the girls are up to lately. Well, I'm happy to report that they haven't started high school yet!

Vivian is FINALLY sleeping through the night. She backslid for awhile, but we've had almost a full week of her sleeping 11-12 hours solid. (It involved sleep-training ME to retreat downstairs to sleep!) I hate to jinx it by even talking about it. She's also eating solids when she's in the mood (they are offered 3 times a day). She's gumming crackers, rice cakes and frozen bagels (still no teeth have popped up!). And she's trying to crawl--rocking back and forth and occasionally gets a few inches forward or backward. She tries to climb out of her kiddie tub and enjoys standing against anything that will bear her weight. I suspect cruising and crawling is in our immediate future, as well as child-proofing, which we did not have to do with Lily...Vivian is also working on the "p" sound and squeals quite a bit. When she's mad she blows rasberries! She definitely knows how to get her point across...

Lily's communication skills have continued to explode, and along with that comes newfound social stuff. She'll engage in a short conversation with you now, but it usually involves using her favorite phrases. For example, if Phil and I are talking about someone she always adds on her bit: "and also a good girl." Matters not if that someone is male, female, animal or human. She has also made friends with a set of twin girls, and she talks about them incessantly. Which has worked to our advantage to get her to do what we'd like on occasion ("Emma eats her carrots.") It goes both ways, as the twins seem rather enamoured with Lily too. Very sweet to see her make little friends at this age!
