Pearly Whites=Cranky Baby

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that I see 2 bottom teeth poking out from Vivian's gums. She has been a bit cranky over the past few weeks too...maybe this explains why she's decided to give up the bottle (which requires a different kind of sucking, and maybe it hurts too much). Maybe this also explains why she doesn't want solids either ("Get that spoon out of my mouth! Are you crazy, lady?!"). Or, maybe she just doesn't care for what's on the menu.

All I know is that since Lily and Dad have been out of town she's wanting to "visit the Dairy Queen" every 2 hours during the day! I guess she's making up for lost time, since she's usually too distracted to nurse much when Lily is around. In any event, it will all work itself out--she'll get teeth and eventually enjoy hot dogs like her big sister.

Spice Dogs

One of Lily's new and favorite things to do is to play with the spice jars on the counter and (sort of) sniff their contents. This can keep her occupied for a long time, which makes me happy when I'm cooking. I've been trying to teach her how to smell the spices, but many times she just ends up blowing air out her nose. Her favorite spices are cloves, rosemary, cinnamon and ginger. At least these are the ones she asks for by name. Most of the other ground-up spices she also refers to as ginger. As most of you know, that's the name of one of our dogs. So, after "sniffing" all the aforementioned spices and pointing out that there are several "ginger" spices, she will randomly pull out jars, asking if they contain our other dog, Be Be. Sadly, I have to tell her that, no, Be Be is not a spice dog.
